Zac Posen Joins Project Runway’s Judge Panel

 

Zac Posen was announced as a featured judge on the Lifetime fashion reality show Project Runway hosted by Heidi Klum and also judged by Marie Claire’s Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. The change is due to the conflicts in Kors’ scheduling as the tenth and eleventh seasons of Project Runway were shot simultaneously. But it doesn’t mean Michael Kors is out for good. The designer will be back as a judge at the season’s finale.

Zac Posen who’s already familiar with the show as he was a guest judge in one of the season’s, said it was ‘exciting to to be the new judge on @ProjectRunway Season 11!’ through his Twitter.

This was an amazing opportunity. I hope I’m here to give a new perspective to the designers,

Posen said in a statement.

There is also another change in the dynamics of the show.  This time around the designers will compete in teams rather than individually as it always was. Heidi Klum who is also the show’s executive producer said:

You can imagine the designers’ reactions when we first told them, but it resulted in some really interesting conflicts and partnerships. And that is how designers work in the real world — they do have to work on teams and manage teams — you get to understand their personalities more.

Tim Gunn is aslo returning to the show as the designers’ mentor. While the guest judges include Susan Sarandon, John Legend, Emmy Rossum, Rachel Roy, Tracy Reese, show’s winner and designer Christian Siriano and many others.

The prize for eleventh season competition is $100,000 from L’Oreal Paris, a fashion spread in Marie Claire, a $50,000 technology suite by HP and Intel, an opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor, and a 2013 Lexus GS 350.
