Nicola Formichetti Heads To Diesel

Nicola Formichettithe man behind most of Lady GaGa’s costumes, has recently left his post as Creative Director at Thierry Mugler. The fashion crowd has been patiently awaiting on the announcement of what Nicola would do and where he would go. Today, WWD reports that Fromichetti will head to Diesel as their first Artistic Director.

Rosso Breganze said of the appointment of Nicola “I finally met somebody as crazy as I am. I have replaced myself and can go on vacation.” We must say, Nicola is anything but sane when it comes to fashion; that’s what makes him so talented — he’s not afraid to break down barriers and do something different. Additionally, Nicola will be the force behind the overall direction of the Diesel brand. Rosso also said “This is the right man to take the next step for a young company and a brand for people who are young of mind,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Nicola will spend the first year getting familiar with the brand before he makes any major changes. We’re just hoping this isn’t some sort of Hedi Slimane and Yves Saint Laurent kind of deal, we all know how that turned out.
