Remember Dior's short film from
last year where Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju ran
through the grounds of the Château de Versailles to the sound of Depeche
Mode? It was hardly a secret, as it received about 25 million views on YouTube.
Well the Dior gang are back in the grounds of Versailles for a second
installment, with the 'Secret Garden 2 - Versailles.'
This time the one-minute film was shot in a forest in the grounds near to a small château, The Petit Trianon, and was once again shot by fashion photogs Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Two images have been released from the campaign so far and it has a more surreal and romantic vibe than the first short, which was slick and oh so glossy. This time there is a model in arabesque up in the trees, furniture and gold chandeliers suspended from branches and plenty of rolling mist.
One of the images is inspired by Manet's famous painting 'The Luncheon on the Grass,' but instead of a naked woman these ladies are dressed in Raf Simons' fall collection for Dior. In the Manet a nude woman picnics with two men, but Dior interprets this with three women models and one beautiful tuxedo - a piece is now firmly established at the heart of Simons’ Dior. The wicker basket filled with fruit in the painting is replaced with a pile of Diorissimo handbags placed next to a basket of fruit.
The short film is expected to be realised in June on Dior.com and the Diormag website, but why not get ready by watching the original Secret Garden short...
