Mary Katrantzou For Current/Elliott Revealed

THE hotly-anticipated collaboration between Mary Katrantzou and Current/Elliott launches today on my-wardrobe.com.

Comprising jeans, dresses, shorts and tops, the aesthetic for the collection was inspired by Katrantzou's spring/summer 2013 collection that depicted postage stamps and bank notes.

"For Current/Elliott, we looked at stamped visas and passports," revealed the designer when we spoke to her back in October following the announcement of the collaboration. "In our last show, a critic mentioned denim and what it might look like with our prints and we thought that it could be a great challenge to work with denim for the first time. I really like what Current/Elliott does, so I approached Serge [Azria, the label's creative director], with an idea for a collaboration."

For its part, Current/Elliott has established cult status among the fashion pack since its launch in 2008. Under Azria's direction, the label has become a go-to for its wide range of flattering fits, washes and vintage American appeal.

"Mary Katrantzou is the must-have print designer of the moment, and this collaboration with Current/Elliott opens her designs to a wider customer," Carmen Borgonovo, fashion director at my-wardrobe.com, told us. "The unexpected mix of art-house prints on denim makes the collection wearable and undeniably urban with a cool edge."

The collection is sure to be a sell-out success, with fans of both labels already clamouring for pieces. Borgonovo has already chosen her favourite styles: "My key items from the Mary Katrantzou X Current/Elliott collaboration have to be the Apollo dress, the Bearding panel tee and the Past printed skirt. The dress is super easy to wear, while the separates are key for the season and can be easily mixed and matched to create different looks."
