Fashion month officially kicks off next week,
and to get you ready for all of the sure-to-be-amazing looks we'll see on the
catwalks, we asked top designers about their Fall 2013 inspirations.
Valentino designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and
Pierpaolo Piccioli, noted their influences as the "cinematic idea of
beauty," while Jean Paul Gaultier said it was "a correspondence
between music and fashion…David Bowie, Grace Jones." Both Isabel Marant
and Olivier Rousteing of Balmain gave a nod to vacations—"images of
Saint-Tropez " and "Latin power in Miami," respectively.
