MARC JACOBS has
postponed his New York Fashion Week
show while he waits for missing items to be delivered. Instead of showing on
Monday, February 11 as scheduled, the collection will now be unveiled on
Thursday, February 14 at 8pm. The location, at the New York State Armory on
Lexington Avenue, remains the same.
A selection of "fabric and accessories" has yet to arrive,
including handbags and shoes. It's believed that poor weather conditions
could be to blame for the delayed deliveries, which are not expected to arrive
until Monday. Threats of a blizzard from the incoming Storm Nemo has resulted
in the cancellation of several flights into the city, meaning that many
international editors and buyers have had to miss the first round of shows.
The Marc by Marc Jacobs
show has consequently been brought forward and will now be shown in the
original time slot scheduled for the Marc Jacobs' show - Monday at 8pm - as
opposed to Tuesday at 4pm as originally planned, and will take place in the
tents at the Lincoln Centre. Unfortunately, with the Marc Jacobs mainline show
now taking place in the new late Thursday evening time slot (the last day on
the New York schedule), many editors will have already left the city for London
Fashion Week, which starts the next day.
"We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience and expense that this
may cause you and your team," read a statement from Marc Jacobs and Robert
Duffy, president of the brand. "We very much hope you will be able to make
it to the show at the new time but if you cannot, we completely understand. We
don't want to cause any issues for those who are scheduled to attend the London
shows and we know that this schedule change makes for a difficult transition.
For those who will not be able to attend, we will be streaming live worldwide
at live.marcjacobs.com. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
