enjoyed a significant rise in sales
for 2012. The luxury fashion house reported a 29 per cent gain in total revenue
for the year.
Both the Prada and Miu Miu brands experienced growth globally
- with the group announcing sales of €3.29 billion (£2.84 billion). The company
opened 78 new stores last year and now boasts 283 Prada boutiques and 126 Miu
Miu shops around the world.
"In a year
characterised by a particularly difficult international economic environment,
our group has made further important progress along its path of growth,
consolidation its position at the head of the luxury goods sector," Prada
CEO Patrizio Bertelli told WWD. "The strength of our brands, our ability
to interpret and anticipate market trends and our global retail network
continue to form the basis for our long-term growth strategy."
Sales in Europe were
particularly strong - up 36 per cent in comparison to 2011's figures - while
the Asia-Pacific region posted a growth of 33 per cent.
